HMD to Show Off Nokia 9 at the Mobile World Congress 2019

Nokia’s upcoming flagship, known as Nokia 9, has been heavily leaked. HMD Global hasn’t confirmed the existence of the phone, but we won’t have to wait too long for it.

HMD Global executive Juho Sarvikas confirmed in a tweet that the company would be showing up on February 24 at the Mobile World Congress 2019. Instead of sending formal media invites and putting up official posters, the company made the announcement in a humorous “really really” tweet.

It’s easy to infer from this tweet that the company wants to show something off at the event, with the most likely contender being Nokia 9.

Details About Nokia 9

About the Nokia 9 PureView, it has been in the rumor mill for quite some time now. The phone raised hype in the smartphone community when it was known to have a five-camera set up on the rear. HMD is pushing things way ahead of Chinese manufacturers and is looking to be the first one to have a smartphone with this many camera sensors in one place.

Whether or not this set up actually proves to be useful, we’ll need to wait and find out, as some smartphones – especially the Google Pixel 3 duo – are doing just fine with a single camera. What’s more is that Huawei achieved some of the best smartphone photography results by using three cameras on the rear, so we’re not really sure if more cameras will improve the image quality on the Nokia 9.

Other big flagships, like the Galaxy S10, will also sport three cameras.

Other features that make HMD’s Nokia 9 more interesting include Android One support – meaning a clean, stock Android experience on the software side – as well as a new notchless screen design.

The company did well on the design department by using metal and glass on their smartphones. The new upcoming launch will also pack the latest hardware, most likely a Snapdragon 855 to compete with the likes of Samsung and Huawei.

Let’s wait and see what Nokia has in store for us.
